Overview: When hiring employees in New Hampshire, you must register for State Unemployment Insurance (UI) Tax through New Hampshire Employment Security (NHES). New Hampshire does not impose a state income tax on payroll, so unemployment registration is the primary employer payroll obligation.

Registration Steps

1. Register for a New Hampshire Employer Account Number

  • Review the information required to register

  • Click Next to proceed through the application

  • Agree to the electronic transaction terms and complete remaining registration steps

  • Upon completion, a Determination of Liability and your NH Employer Account Number will be mailed within 7–10 days

  • You will also receive a registration code via mail. This code is required for Check to e-file and submit returns on your behalf

2. Create a Username and Password

  • Click Register to create an employer account

  • Enter employer information and contact details

  • Create a username, password, and set up security questions

  • Submit your registration to access your NHES employer portal

Third-party Administrator (TPA) Access

Provide the registration code that was mailed along with your NH Employer Account Number.

Next Steps

Update your Buddy Punch account with your New Hampshire Employer Account Number. This number is required for all NHES interactions to ensure your payroll account is accurate.
