How to Set Up Punch Limiting

Step-by-step instructions on how to set up punch limiting with and without scheduling.

Overview: Punch limiting allows you to specify a timeframe an employee is allowed to punch time. If you're using scheduling, you can set punch limiting to the schedule.

Instructions:

Punch Limiting (With Scheduling)

1. To set up punch limiting to the schedule, start by clicking Settings --> Punch Limiting:

Dashboard - Google Chrome 2026-06-04 at 11.58.23 AM

2. Once on the Punch Limiting page, select the + Add a New Punch Limiting Rule button:

3. You'll then need to enter a name for your punch limiting rule and specify how many minutes before or after a shift an employee is allowed to punch time. You'll then want to assign the necessary employees to the rule and click Save.

Now, if an employee tries to punch time outside their shift and the specified timeframe, they'll receive an error message.

Punch Limiting (Without Scheduling)
