Overview: When adding shifts from the Buddy Punch website, Managers can set shifts to repeat on a daily, weekly, monthly, or yearly basis, making it easy to manage recurring schedules for employees.
Instructions:
Add Repeating Shifts
1. To add repeating shifts, start by navigating to the Schedule page:
2. Once there, click the open space for the date that you would like the repeating shift to start on next to the desired employee:
3. A shift creation box will populate where you can enter details such as:
Shift start time
Shift end time
Unpaid break duration
Shift color
Job codes
And a note
You'll also find the Repeats option:
4. The Repeat options available are:
Weekly
Monthly
Annually
Every Weekday
Custom
After entering the Repeat details, you'll also need to specify when the repeating shift Ends on:
5. Click Add Shift once done.
6. You'll be taken back to the schedule where you can see your newly added repeating shift in the draft status:
7. If you click the shift, you can review the repeating shift information:
Edit Repeating Shifts
1. To edit repeating shifts, start by navigating to the Schedule page:
2. Once there, click the repeating shift you want to edit:
3. You can edit details, including:
Who the shift is assigned to
Shift start time
Shift end date
Shift end time
Break time
Shift color
Job codes
And the note
After making the necessary changes, click Save:
Important! You cannot change the Ends on date of the repeating shift. If the Ends On date needs to be changed, the repeating shifts will need to be recreated.
4. You will be presented with two editing options, which include:
This shift - Only updates the shift you clicked into
This and following shifts - Updates the shift you clicked into, along with any future repeating shifts in the series
Make your selection and click Save when done:
5. You'll be taken back to the schedule page, where your repeating shifts with changes will be in draft:
Note: In the example above, one of the changes made to the shift was changing the color associated with the shift. Shifts with changes made to them are not automatically displayed in a different color; however, unpublished shifts will always show as an outline, while published shifts are displayed in a solid color.
Delete Repeating Shifts
1. To delete repeating shifts, start by navigating to the Schedule page:
2. Once there, click the repeating shift you want to delete:
3. You'll find the Delete option at the bottom of the shift creation box:
4. Once clicked, you'll be presented with two delete options, which include:
This shift - Only deletes the shift you clicked into
This and following shifts - Deletes the shift you clicked into, along with any future repeating shifts in the series
Make your selection and click Delete when done:
5. Once deleted, you'll be taken back to the schedule, where you'll find the shift has been removed from the schedule view.
The shifts will be automatically removed from the employee's view as well once they've been deleted. However, since changes were made to the schedule, you'll see the option to Publish in order to send an alert about the change.

FAQs
Q: Can I apply a repeating shift to more than one employee?
A: Yes, when you initially create a repeating shift, you'll be able to select which employees it should be assigned to from the dropdown menu. Please note that you can't assign additional employees to an existing shift. Only during the initial creation of a shift can multiple employees be assigned.
