How to Complete Payroll Onboarding—Employee/Contractor (Web)

Overview: Employees and contractors can complete payroll onboarding from the Buddy Punch website. Onboarding ensures payroll can be processed correctly by collecting required personal, tax, and payment details.

Instructions:


Complete Payroll Onboarding (Employee/W-2)

1. When you log in for the first time after payroll onboarding has been initiated, you'll be asked to Setup Multi-Factor Authentication. This is required to access payroll features:

2. Once Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) has been set up, you should see a blue banner prompting you to complete payroll onboarding, along with a new Payroll Setup option in the top navigation:

3. Once either are clicked, you'll be asked to you want to receive your annual Tax documents with options including:

  • Electronic Copy

  • Paper Copy Mailed to your home address

Make a selection and Save:

4. You will receive a pop-up where you'll want to click Get Started:

5. You'll first need to enter your Personal info, which includes details such as your name and date of birth. Enter the required details and click Continue:

6. You'll then need to specify how you want to be paid, whether by direct deposit or manually by your employer. Make a selection and click Continue:

7. If you choose to get paid via direct deposit, you can either manually enter your checking or savings bank information or Connect via Plaid:

8. As a final step, you will need to click on and complete all the Tax withholding forms available to you. Once all forms have been completed, click Continue:

9. You'll be taken back to the Time Entry page and receive a green confirmation message stating Payroll has been set up successfully:


Complete Payroll Onboarding (Contractor/1099)

4. You'll first need to specify if you're working as an individual or a business, click Continue, and enter the relevant details:

5. You'll then need to specify how you want to be paid, whether by direct deposit or manually by your employer. Make a selection and click Continue:

6. If you choose to get paid via direct deposit, you can either manually enter your checking or savings bank information or Connect via Plaid:

7. As a final step, you will need to click on and complete all the Tax withholding forms available to you. Once all forms have been completed, click Continue:

9. You'll be taken back to the Time Entry page and receive a green confirmation message stating Payroll has been set up successfully:
