Break Alert

Step-by-step instructions covering how to create and assign a Break Alert from the Buddy Punch website as an Administrator.

Overview: The Break Alert allows you to get notified if an employee doesn't take their break after a certain amount of time. The alert can be sent to an Employee, Manager, or Administrator via email, push notification, or both.

1. Start by clicking Settings --> Alerts & Reminders:

2. Then click + Add a New Alert/Reminder:

3. You'll then be able to specify the:

  • Reminder Name—This will be in the message to employees.

  • Reminder Type—Break Alert

  • Break Trigger—If the alert should trigger for all breaks or a specific break

  • Hours—The number of hours before the alert triggers

Important! Don't see any breaks to assign the alert to? It may be because you need to create a manual break. More information on how to create a manual break can be found here.

5. You'll then want to choose who the message should be sent to and if it should be sent via email, push notification, or both. Assign the proper employees and Save once done:

6. If you need to edit or delete the alert, you can do so by choosing the Edit or Delete buttons:

Q: Can I create more than one Break Alert?

A: Yes! You can create as many Break Alerts as needed, and an employee can be assigned to more than one Break Alert.
