Overview: When hiring employees in New Jersey, you must register for State Income Withholding Tax and State Unemployment Insurance (UI) Tax. Registration is completed in a single application that issues a New Jersey Employer Number, which is used for both tax and labor purposes. Employers also have the option to register a private disability plan for Temporary Disability Insurance (TDI) and Family Leave Insurance (FLI) if not using the state plan.

Important! This guide does not constitute legal or tax advice. You can consult a CPA or attorney for official guidance.
