Overview: When hiring employees in New Jersey, you must register for State Income Withholding Tax and State Unemployment Insurance (UI) Tax. Registration is completed in a single application that issues a New Jersey Employer Number, which is used for both tax and labor purposes. Employers also have the option to register a private disability plan for Temporary Disability Insurance (TDI) and Family Leave Insurance (FLI) if not using the state plan.
