Overview: Positions in Buddy Punch are used to identify the role or job function an employee is working during their shift. Administrators can create, assign, and track Positions to help organize schedules, manage labor reporting, and ensure accurate payroll tracking.

How to Create Positions (Web)
1. Positions can be created by Administrators from the Settings --> Positions page:
2. On that page, click +Add a New Position:
3. You'll then need to:
Enter a name for the position; this is what employees will see on their end
Specify whether the position is Active or not
Assign employees
And Save when done:

When creating a shift, simply click the Position dropdown and you'll find a list of the position codes available in your account and for shift assignments:

How to Create Positions (App)
1. To create Positions from the Buddy Punch app, log in and start by clicking the three-dashed menu in the top left. (Left image below)
2. The side menu will open, where you'll then want to click Settings. (Middle image below)
3. From the Settings page, click Positions. (Right image below)
4. Click the + button in the top right-hand corner. (Left image below)
5. You'll then be prompted to enter details for the Position, such as its Name. (Right image below)
6. When assigning employees, you can either select all or select individual workers. (Left image below)
7. After entering the required details, click Save. (Right image below)

Q: Can Positions be associated with specific Location or Department codes?
A: No, Positions can't be linked with Locations or Department Codes. If you need multiple levels of linked tracking, consider using Locations and Department Codes.
