How to Integrate with SurePayroll (SunTrust)

Step-by-step instructions covering how to setup and use the integration with SurePayroll, also known as SunTrust.

​Overview: The integration with SurePayroll is done through an export/import process. When it's time to process payroll, you will export the SurePayroll-specific file and upload it into their system.

Instructions:


Enable SurePayroll Time Clock Integration

1. From the Company area in SurePayroll select Time Clock Integration:

2. After clicking Register, you will be taken to the registration screen, where you'll want to select Buddy Punch from the dropdown:


3. For the file format, select SurePayroll Format:

4. You will want to continue through the Time Clock Integration process, making note of the Earning Codes in step 3 and Employee IDs/numbers in step 4. You will need to enter these details into the Buddy Punch system later.


Setup SurePayroll Integration in Buddy Punch

1. Now that you've enabled the SurePayroll Time Clock integration outlined above, you'll want to setup the SurePayroll integration in Buddy Punch by going to Settings --> Integrations:

2. Click the SurePayroll Settings button:

3. Check the box next to Enable Integration with SurePayroll and enter the SurePayroll Earning Codes from the Time Clock Integration step.

If there is a SurePayroll code you're not using, enter NA in the corresponding box.

Click Save once done:

Note: The additional mapping categories outside of Regular, Overtime, and Double Time are controlled by your Time Off Types, which can be found by going to Settings --> Time Off in Buddy Punch.


Enter Employee IDs

Any worker you want to show up on the SurePayroll export needs to have an Employee ID in Buddy Punch and this needs to match what's in SurePayroll. Employee IDs should have been captured during the Time Clock Integration step.

Export the SurePayroll File

1. To export the SurePayroll file, go to Reports --> Payroll Export:

2. Choose your pay period and any filters, and click Run Report. You'll then want to click the Export dropdown followed by SurePayroll Format:

Important: When exporting the SurePayroll file, do not open it in Excel and resave it. Excel will change your file and cause the export to fail with SurePayroll. (Excel changes 001 to 1, for example)

3. In SurePayroll, you'll click on the Time Clock Integration button to import your hours:
