How to Delete an Unused Location, Department, or Position Code—Administrator (Web)

Step-by-step instructions covering how to delete an unused job code as an Administrator from the Buddy Punch website.

Overview: Location, Department, and Position codes are labels for tracking time. These codes can only be deleted if they haven't been applied to an employee's time card or a published shift.

Delete a Location

1. To delete an unused Location code, start by clicking Settings in the top navigation, followed by Locations:

2. Then click Edit next to the Location code you want to delete:

3. If the Location code is unused, you will see and be able to click the Delete option in the top right-hand corner.

Important: Don't see the option to Delete? The Location code in question has likely been applied to an employee's time card or is on a published shift.

You can verify if the Location code has been used by running one of our reports, or if the Location code is on a shift by reviewing schedules here.

4. After clicking Delete, you'll be asked to confirm the deletion by choosing Yes, I understand:

Delete a Department

1. To delete an unused Department code, start by clicking Settings in the top navigation, followed by Department Codes:
