How to Create and Assign Open Shifts—Administrator (Web)

Overview: When using the scheduling feature, Administrators can create Open Shifts from the Buddy Punch website. Open Shifts enable you to create shifts without assigning them to a specific employee immediately.

Important! Employees cannot claim open shifts themselves — shifts must be manually assigned to them.

Instructions:


Create an Open Shift

1. To create an Open Shift, start by navigating to the Schedule page:

2. Once on the schedule, you'll see the Open Shifts line at the top. Click a day on that Open Shift line:

3. This will populate a shift creation box with the Assign Shift To defaulted to unassigned. Leave the Assign Shift To option unassigned and enter the other shift details. Click Add Shift when done:

4. Once added, you'll see the shift on the Open Shift line at the top the schedule:


Assign an Open Shift

1. To assign an Open Shift, you can either click the Open Shift and drag it to an employee:

2. Or you can click the Open Shift:

2. Click the Assign Shift To dropdown and select an employee's name:

3. And Save your changes once done:
