Overview: By default, new shifts on the Schedule are pre-filled with 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM hours. With the Default Shift Hours setting, you can choose the start and end times that automatically pre-fill whenever a new shift is created, so you don't have to adjust the times on every shift.
Set Default Shift Hours (Web)
1. Start by navigating to Settings --> Scheduling. Under Default Shift Hours, you'll find the start and end times that new shifts currently default to:
2. Click the start or end time field to open the time selector, then use the arrows to choose your preferred hours and minutes, along with AM or PM:
3. Once you've set your preferred times, scroll to the bottom of the page and click Save.
4. Now, whenever a new shift is created on the Schedule page, the shift creation box will automatically pre-fill with your default hours:
Note: Overnight defaults are supported! If you set an end time before the start time (for example, 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM), new shifts will automatically default to ending on the following day. The start and end times can't be identical.
FAQs
Q: Will changing the Default Shift Hours update shifts that are already on the Schedule?
A: No. The Default Shift Hours only control the times that are pre-filled when a new shift is created. Existing shifts aren't affected, and you can still adjust the times on any individual shift as you create or edit it.
Q: Do the Default Shift Hours apply to Availability?
A: No. This setting only applies to shift creation. Availability entries continue to default to 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
Q: What happens if I never change this setting?
A: Nothing changes — new shifts continue to pre-fill with the standard 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
Q: Does the time selector support military time?
A: Yes. If military time is in use on your account, the time selector displays hours 0–23. Otherwise, it displays hours 1–12 with an AM/PM toggle.
