How to Add Notes to Employee Time—Administrator (Web/App)

Overview: Administrators can add notes to employee time entries from the Buddy Punch website or mobile app. Notes allow you to document additional details about a punch, edit, or adjustment for clearer record-keeping.

Important! Existing notes cannot be deleted or edited.

Instructions:


Add Notes (Web)

1. Start by visiting an employee's time card and choosing Edit next to an existing punch:

2. Once on the Edit punch page, enter the note and Save:

3. You'll be taken back to the time card, where you can view the note:


Add Notes (App)

1. Start by clicking Time Cards in the bottom navigation. (Left image below)

2. Then click an employee's name. (Middle image below)

3. And then click the punch or time entry you want to add a note to. (Right image below)

4. You can then enter a note and Save. (Left image below)

5. You'll be taken back to the Time Card, where you can see your note as indicated by an ( i ) icon. (Middle image below)

6. Clicking the ( i ) icon will open the note so you can view it in more detail. (Right image below)

Q: Where can notes be viewed?

A: Notes can be viewed directly from the employee's time card (hover over the little bubble next to a punch), or by running the Time Card, Employee Detail, or In/Out Activity reports.

Q: Can I require a note on a punch or edit?

A: Yes, if you want to require notes on punch ins, outs, both, or when an employee makes an edit, this can be enabled from each employee profile with these steps.
