Step-by-step instructions on how to create an employee payroll profile

Overview: A payroll profile will need to be created for each contractor or employee for which you need to run payroll.

Create Employee/W2 Payroll Profile

1. To create an employee/W2 payroll profile, start by clicking Payroll in the top navigation, followed by People:

2. Click the Create Payroll Profile button next to the name of the employee in question:

3. And then select W-2:

4. You'll then need to enter the required details including the employee's hire date, pay type, and physical mailing address. If some of this information is already in the employee time tracking profile, it will be automatically populated here in the payroll profile:

5. Management can either finish the remaining onboarding process (entering tax information and banking details) via the Finish Setup link, or they can choose the Send Onboarding Email button and have the employee do the onboarding themselves:


Create Contractor/1099 Payroll Profile

1. To create a contractor payroll profile, start by clicking Payroll in the top navigation, followed by People:

2. Click the Create Payroll Profile button next to the name of the contractor in question:

3. And then select 1099:

4. You'll then need to enter the required details including the employee's hire date, pay type, and physical mailing address. If some of this information is already in the contractors time tracking profile, it will be populated automatically here in the payroll profile:

5. Management can either finish the remaining onboarding process (entering tax information and banking details) via the Finish Setup link, or they can choose the Send Onboarding Email button and have the contractor do the onboarding themselves:
